Dickinson and Morris has been hand-raising pork pies at Ye Olde Pork Pie Shoppe on Nottingham Street since 1851, making it the oldest remaining baker of the authentic pie in the town centre. The recipe traces back to Mary Dickinson, John's grandmother, who is credited with creating the Melton Mowbray Pork Pie we know today.

The tradition extends beyond a single shop. Walker and Son in Leicester has been making pies since 1824 and their master pie maker won Supreme Champion at the British Pie Awards in consecutive years. Brocklebys in Asfordby produces award-winning pork pies alongside game pies from their farm shop.
