Find Local Producers in Warwickshire

Warwickshire is Shakespeare country, but the food and drink story is every bit as compelling as the literary one. This is a county where heritage meets innovation, with producers drawing on centuries of farming tradition while a new generation of breweries, distilleries, and artisan makers push the scene forward.

The drinks landscape is remarkable in both depth and range. Purity Brewing in Great Alne built its reputation on eco-friendly brewing, using a natural wetland system to cleanse waste water and reusing spent hops as fertiliser. Their Mad Goose IPA won Gold at the International Beer Challenge. Slaughterhouse Brewery has been crafting ales in Warwick since 2003. North Cotswold Brewery has been brewing at Stretton-on-Fosse since 1999. Warwickshire Beer Company near Leamington Spa produces Lady Godiva and Shakespeare s County. Windmill Hill and Old Pie Factory add further depth from Leamington and Warwick respectively.

The distillery scene is equally distinctive. Shakespeare Distillery crafts Stratford Dry Gin using authentic Tudor garden botanicals including rose, lemon balm, and old English lovage. Warwickshire Gin Company names its gins after local legends. Spirit of Ilmington produces small-batch spirits in a south Warwickshire Cotswolds village. Moores of Warwick runs a gin school where you blend your own recipe and they keep it on file for reordering. Napton Cidery started with a single apple tree in a garden in 2015 and now presses over 120,000 litres a year from orchard apples fermented naturally with wild yeast. Welcombe Hills Vineyard has been producing award-winning English wine overlooking Stratford-upon-Avon for over 18 years.

The food producers are anchored by names like Aubrey Allen, the Leamington Spa butcher since 1933 whose beef the Roux Brothers described as unrivalled. Hillers Farm Shop in Alcester has been family-run for over 100 years. Napton Water Buffalo roam 250 acres beside the Oxford Canal and produce buffalo milk ice cream alongside steaks and burgers. Henley Ice Cream has been making dairy ice cream from their own herd since the 1930s. Henley Chocolates crafts award-winning truffles with ethically sourced cocoa.

Store Cupboard

The average food item on a UK supermarket shelf has travelled over 1,500 miles to reach you. Supermarket cheese averages around 350 miles. Supermarket lamb averages 3,200 miles. A local Warwickshire producer is typically under 15 miles from your door.

Warwickshire stretches from the former coalfields of the north through the rolling countryside of the Feldon to the Cotswold fringe in the south. This diversity of landscape supports an equally diverse food culture, from the market towns of Stratford-upon-Avon, Warwick, and Leamington Spa to the quieter villages where farm shops and producers operate from converted barns and farmhouse kitchens.

The county has a long tradition of food markets, farm shops, and direct-to-customer sales. Farmers Fayre, Cobbs, Hillers, Malt Kiln, and East Chase are just some of the farm shops that anchor their communities, stocking produce from farms often within sight of the shop itself. Warwickshire also hosts regular farmers markets across its towns, connecting producers and consumers face to face.
