The Staffordshire Cheese Company has been producing artisan cheese from the Staffordshire Moorlands since 1994. Founded by John Knox, who developed his passion for cheesemaking from a teenage holiday job in a Scottish cheese factory, the company holds five Protected Designation of Origin cheeses. The range includes Dovedale Blue, Cheddleton Original, and Oak Smoked Cheddleton, all handmade at their production unit in Cheddleton near Leek. The company was featured on Rick Stein s Food Heroes and the cheeses are sought after by farm shops, delis, and restaurants across the Midlands.
When your local cheesemaker is under 10 miles away and the supermarket average for dairy is over 350 miles, the quality difference is clear. Browse the dairy and egg producers below to find what is near you.
