The drinks scene is remarkably varied. White Castle Vineyard near Abergavenny won Gold at the Decanter World Wine Awards. Sugar Loaf Vineyard overlooks the iconic mountain. Apple County Cider makes single variety cider and perry from local orchards near Skenfrith. Untapped Brewery in Raglan grew from farmers market cuckoo brewing to a fully-fledged operation. Silver Circle Distillery produces Wye Valley gin. Wye Valley Meadery creates a modern take on honey wine.
Abergavenny Fine Foods has a long history of producing renowned Welsh cheeses. Hillside Beef and Lamb farms native breeds on 100% grass near Abergavenny. Shepherds Ice Cream uses sheep milk for a naturally creamy flavour.
The Abergavenny Food Festival, held every September, attracts over 200 exhibitors across six venues. It combines the best produce from Monmouthshire, the Marches, and Wales with talks, demonstrations, debates, and live cooking in the grounds of the castle.
