Find Local Producers in Powys

Powys is the largest county in Wales, stretching from the Brecon Beacons in the south to the Berwyn Mountains in the north. The county is the farming heartland of Wales, and its food producers reflect a landscape shaped by centuries of sheep farming, hill agriculture, and market town culture.

Penderyn Distillery is the pioneer of Welsh whisky. Established in 2000 in a village at the edge of the Brecon Beacons, it was the first whisky distillery in Wales for over a century. The single malt whisky has won global awards and established Wales as a serious spirits-producing nation. Brecon Brewing produces craft ales using Beacons water. Montys Brewery operates from Montgomeryshire.

Caws Teifi Cheese was co-founded by John Savage-Onstwedder, regarded as the Godfather of Welsh artisan cheesemaking and the longest-established artisan cheesemaker in Wales. Hilltop Honey was started by beekeeper Scott Davies in his parents kitchen with a 5,000 pound overdraft in 2011 and is now one of Wales best-known brands. Talgarth Mill is a historic water-powered flour mill on the River Ennig, restored by the community and producing stoneground flour from Welsh-grown grain.
